LIVEtheFIT: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you came to find the Paleo lifestyle?
Jason Seib: I have been hanging around fitness for almost 20 years, all the while gobbling up as much science as I could find. I guess I was always more of a gym geek than a meat head. If science is important to you, it doesn’t take long to realize that nutrition and fitness cannot be addressed separately. Neither will achieve peak health without the other. After enough time spent reading nutrition studies, it seems to me that all roads lead to paleo. Facts are facts, and when the biases are removed, only 2.6 million years of adaptation makes sense. After slowly reversing years of mainstream brainwashing, I applied paleo to my own life and felt great. The rest is history.
LTF: You are part of the Everyday Paleo team, how did you become involved with Sarah Fragoso and the Everyday Paleo team?
JS: Sarah, along with Chrissy Gower (author of Paleo Slow Cooking), came to my gym for a workshop nearly two years ago and we hit it off. She asked me to write a guest post for Everyday Paleo and I jumped at the opportunity. One post turned into multiple posts and I had a few big hits early on with my 2 part series on scale addiction. Then, by a stroke of luck, Sarah was heading to the Los Angeles area for a workshop and she asked me to come help her with it. We discovered that we speak really well together and our individual knowledge bases compliment each other. Sarah asked me to be a permanent addition to the Everyday Paleo workshops and we have been having a blast with them ever since. Then, in the summer of 2011, we came up with the idea to build a site that would be the answer to all the fitness and lifestyle questions we receive. EPLifeFit was born on December 1, 2011. These days, Sarah and her husband John are two of my closest friends and we find every opportunity to get our families together. We all share many of the same values and passions.

LTF: Your new book, The Paleo Coach, comes out today, what can readers expect from your book, aside from other Paleo books on the market?
JS: I wrote The Paleo Coach because I truly believe that the fast track to sustainable health and fitness requires a major overhaul of perspective. Diets do not work, and treating Paleo like it is just another diet with a set of rules to follow leaves most people far short of their goals. This book includes all the details for how to apply Paleo nutrition and exercise to your life, but it also includes some much needed insight into the obstacles you will face as you try to get your body back to what it has always wanted to be. It is certainly an original contribution and, if I do say so myself, I think it contains the missing pieces that so many people are searching for.
LTF: Anyone who follows you on Facebook knows that you give great advice, where does this coach mentality you exude come from?
JS: My coaching style comes from experience mixed with my own personality. I really like facts so I coach as if everyone does. I’m not one to do a lot of cheering or yelling. I just state the facts as I see them. Sometimes it makes me an enemy or two, but I have no desire to change because I have to sleep at night and withholding or sugarcoating information is not beneficial to anyone in my opinion.
LTF: Speaking of advice, what is the biggest piece of coaching advice you can give to our readers?
JS: I can’t do this in one piece of advice, so here are a few. First, stop pursuing aesthetic goals and start pursuing peak health. If you are only doing this Paleo thing because you hate the way your body looks and you are desperately trying to escape your own self loathing, you will probably fail. Sustainable improvements in aesthetics happen ONLY through improvements in health. Decide that your body is worthwhile and be good to it. You will get hot by accident. I promise.
